Metal roof maintenance – ventilation

The metal roof needs to breathe. There is sufficient ventilation to allow hot air to escape and allow airflow to be a necessary condition for a healthy roof and attic.

The effective formula used to determine the required ventilation is to work at a ratio of 1:300. If you have a 300 square foot insulated roof, you must have at least one square foot of ventilation.

This may vary by region, so check your local building code for guidance.

Unused attic should not be heated or warm at all. In fact, you only want it to be a few degrees above the outside temperature.

Haixing steel group believes that it’s worth seeing the attic to see if there is condensation. If so, the space may be too hot and ventilation may not work properly.
