Michael Bond started playing piano when he was 4 years old. By the time he was 6, he was playing in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. After competing classically for 7 years, he began studying jazz. He was mentored by artists Stanley Cowell, Jim Ridl, Orrin Evans, and Mike LeDonne. Michael was a special recipient of both the Excellence in Jazz Performance Award and the Arthur G. Humphrey award for Music Education while attending Rutgers University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Music Degree in both Jazz Performance and Music Education. Since then, the young pianist has continued to develop a growing audience in both the NYC music scene and around the world. Michael has had the privilege of sharing the stage with many notable artists including: the Captain Black Big Band, Conrad Herwig, Todd Bashore, Joe Ford, Stacy Dillard, Tim Warfield, Josh Evans, Curtis Lundy, Duane Eubanks, Bruce Williams, Joe Magnarelli, Mark Gross and many others. Mary Lorson is an American writer, musician and composer. Best known for her time as the lead singer of alternative pop group Madder Rose and Saint Low, Lorson has gone on to release albums with The Piano Creeps and Mary Lorson & the Soubrettes. She currently lives in Ithaca, New York.

DIANE GARISTO (Lead Vocals) Like Laura Nyro, Diane grew up in New York City, immersed in its musical soul. So it’s not surprising that she also grew up an avid fan of Laura Nyro. Diane sang on her first recording at the age of eight, and went on to record with Billy Joel, Nile Rodgers, George Benson, Carly Simon, Laurie Anderson, Malcolm McLaren, and other industry notables. She toured extensively with Steely Dan, and had the good fortune to sing on Paul Simon’s Grammy Award-winning Album of the Year, Graceland. But what she considers her most meaningful musical experience came in the mid-’90s, when she became a member of Laura Nyro’s Harmony Group. As one of the trio of Nyro’s backing vocalists, Diane traveled throughout the US and Japan, and also recorded two live albums. Diane has put together Stoned Soul Picnic, a celebration of the art and soul of Laura Nyro, featuring a band of top-notch New York City musicians and singers — her way, she says, of keeping Nyro’s flame burning.

Born Bob Miller – he changed his name in the ‘70s after a commercial dispute – Lexcen was abandoned by his soldier father at the age of five and moved to Newcastle in 1941 to live with his grandparents. His schooling left a lot to be desired. Newcastle East Public School records show he enrolled in July, 1941, but “disappeared” in late December and didn’t re-enroll until 1943. 

“Yeah,” he said with a silly smile on his face, “That’s what county fairs are all about … kids.”
