I found the replays deeply confusing. A slow-motion closeup of a great surfer like Carissa Moore tucking into a spiralling barrel was mesmerizing, but not because of what Moore was doing—she was, after all, invisibly deep for most of the clip. Instead, I found myself bug-eyed, forgetting to breathe, silently shouting, “Look at that wave!” The relentless precision of the spilling lip was the news. It was a once-in-a-lifetime wave. Of course, I was being absurd. Every wave here did that.
Commenter: Maria GunjiAdditionally, my high school was a private all girls college prep, and every way I turned someone was saying, "it doesn’t matter how much the tuition is, just reach for the best schools." This should have sounded more like, "Be sane, don’t saddle yourself with huge loans for your undergraduate degree, money is part of the decision making process." Instead we were told to ignore the cost.

"It’s about equality, I think," Bryce jumped in. "We are striving to achieve an equal distribution of power, and each Committee has done that better than the one before. That’s the way forward."

Beyond this comes further mechanization and robotics. Some systems integrate robotic arms that lift sheets onto a conveyor that in turn carries the sheets to the backgauge table, at which point a mechanized foot moves the workpiece into position against the backgauges. After one edge is formed, the mechanized foot rotates the workpiece for the next bend. Other systems use a pick-and-place robot to rotate the workpieces and place them against the gauges (see Figure 9).
In a span of two decades, eleven recordings, and countless stage performances, René Marie has cemented her reputation as not only a singer but also a composer, arranger, theatrical performer and teacher. Guided and tempered by powerful life lessons and rooted in the jazz vocal tradition forged by Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington and other leading ladies of the past, she borrows various elements of folk, R&B and even classical and country to create a captivating hybrid style. Her body of work is musical, but it’s more than just music. It’s an exploration of the human experience, and an affirmation of the power of the human spirit. This has never been more evident than on René Marie’s latest album, Sound of Red – the singer’s first album comprised entirely of original material, recently nominated for a GRAMMY Award in the Jazz Vocal category (her second nomination). There will be no better way to ring in the New Year than with René Marie and her trio – only at Jazz Standard! In Bethlehem, in the grotto where Christ was born, a light shines into the darkness. The light is meant to serve, as light serves for other philosophies and religions, as a symbol of Truth and Love…and Hope. Hope that even in a dark season we may begin to see the world….BENDING TOWARDS THE LIGHT.
Those of us who live in the Mexican War Zone appreciate that our northern neighbor’s only source of info is CNN or Fox. Each channel gives you their overblown, five-minute “News Break,” opposing each other. The routine debate discusses the taking of American jobs or who is responsible for illegal aliens’ children, or does the Constitution mean anything? But ALMOST ALWAYS they avoid the evil beast lurking over every man, women and child on both sides of the border … DRUG USERS!

It was the islands reclaimation project (now Kooragang Island) that provided the answer. The first plan called for a bridge from Stockton to North Carrington, but there were objections because this would interfere with shipping. The alternative site was off Tourle St, Mayfield.
And it’s still goin’ on! I married into a nest of Okies who play the same good music I grew up on. They sing and play and let me hammer and pound along behind ‘em. I’ve never really minded playin’ second fiddle. You can’t be good at everything. But there was a time when I shined!
