On the coldest morning of last December my pickup wouldn’t start. It wasn’t the battery, it turned over. I ground away at the starter, manipulating the manual choke (it’s 30 years old) until the battery began to weaken.
Ted Leo is one of the finest songwriters of our generation, even if it’s not entirely clear what generation that is. Starting in New York Hardcore with Citizen’s Arrest, making the ’90s safe for power-pop and Weller-esque hair with Chisel, then singing our turbulent lives like we were smarter than we were with The Pharmacists, and most recently providing equal parts sweetness and solace with Aimee Mann as The Both, Ted never let us down. And now, seven years after The Brutalist Bricks, he has a new solo album. And it’s wonderful. The songs on The Hanged Man, recorded at a home-studio-in-transition in Wakefield, RI, with Ted playing almost all the instruments, are some of the finest and most finely wrought of Ted Leo’s career. Ted describes the time working on the album as one of "personal desolation that felt fallow but was actually very fertile" and, indeed, lyrically, The Hanged Man is suffused with hope of sorts but crushingly heavy. The concerns addressed, whether personal trauma or the national disaster we’re all currently existing in, matched with the range and vitality of the songcraft is inspiring, even uplifting. The Hanged Man offers the sharp bursts of skinny tie p… (read more)
During our visit, we saw a number of challenging parts being produced in the shop, including an aerospace component for landing gear that starts out as a 13-inch block of raw aluminum (see Figure 2). By stamping 0.1-mm-deep serrations just 3 mm off the edge of the block with a Lang Makro-Grip stamping unit—a device that Mr. Holmes and Mr. DiMarino first discovered at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in 2014—the Lang five-axis vice can hold the part in a way that enables roughing to take place on five sides of the part with no additional fixturing. A 35-pound metal block cantilevered at 90 degrees and fixed at one end with just 3 mm of grip looks like an impossible thing (see Figure 3). Yet this positioning enables roughing to take place on nearly 98 percent of the part, which distorts only microscopically during the process. After the roughing operation has ended, holes are drilled into the part that enable it to be held in place for finished machining on the five axis..
"I don’t know." Natasha sighed, knowing that this was only opinions and no answers would be given. "We left Hera for a reason. That was a conscious decision for our society. It was not easy for our parents. It was a very difficult decision. If we maintain our invested interest in our society, in our future, I believe that we will achieve our dreams on Mina. It’s a new place for us to live."

"Additionally, we decided on a total redesign of our successful 3.0-3.2MW E-115 volume model into an E-115 EP3 with the compact nacelle and single-piece blades, but retaining the 115.7-metre rotor diameter," says Lütkemeyer.
And even in a state that prides itself on its hardiness and independence, they consider themselves the keeper of the flame. Saddle bronc riders come from Jordan. Bareback riding is for pansies. Sometimes it is easy to be overwhelmed by the continuing barrage of news stories about the homeless and helpless, the irresponsible and ignorant, the lazy and the parasitizing.

She stood atop a swell on the high plains of eastern New Mexico. Terry reached her and tied 100 foot of polyethylene water skiing rope around her horns, as well. A safety line so he could at least get within 100 feet of her if she decided to take off in the 300 acre pasture.
Not bad for a boy who began learning tap dancing at the age of four with his brother and sister in Les Griffith’s backyard studio in New Lambton.
The person that answers that ad ought to know better than to set down and start askin’ about paid holidays, days off, cost of living escalators and a five year contract. However, if I don’t miss my guess, he’ll get a day’s pay for a day’s work, good grub, a warm bunk and that kind of “family feelin’” that comes with cowboyin’.
