Finally, there is one more thing to notice while standing atop the second-floor deck, something near the center of the shop floor, partially curtained-off from its surroundings: a Zeiss Contura coordinate measuring machine (CMM). This expensive equipment situated in the middle of the shop (see Figure 10) can be controlled via computer by any operator who calls up a previously written program for the part that is currently being machined. The operator simply grabs a fixture for that part number off a nearby rack and knows exactly where to position that fixture on the table. It is then just a matter of running the program and capturing the necessary data for in-process quality assurance of the part. The data are captured automatically, which means the operators do not even have to write down a thing.

Commenter: EvanI could not have gone to school without student loans. But the student loans were often not enough, and so now I am saddled with both student loan debt and credit card debt, even after living a pretty austere existence throughout my time in school, working the entire time, and going to a low cost school. This debt will seriously restrain my economic progress for at least the next 20 years. As a nation, we urgently need to reduce the financial burden of pursuing a higher education.

Brendan Taylor isn’t interested in normalcy. At 8, things like a gifted Porsche 944 model car, his dad’s Citroen DS he’d pretend to drive, and a couple of Peugeots of his mom’s all contributed to his deviating from things like S14s with SR swaps or Civic hatchbacks on Mugen rims. Instead, Brendan found solace in machines like Nissan’s President Sovereign—a boat of a luxury sedan you know nothing about—as well as a life-size 944 to complement that toy and, more recently, an RB26DETT-motivated Stagea 260RS, also a product of Nissan obscurity.

After a day’s work we’d clean up, have supper and then make music and tell stories in the cookhouse. Sometimes there’d be a cowboy who could sing or a day work uranium miner who’d played the mandolin. We had a high ol’ time every night!
