Last century Scone’s Kia Ora Stud put its stamp on cup history with Windbag (1925), Delta (1951), Evening Peal (1956) and Baystone (1958).
And it’s still goin’ on! I married into a nest of Okies who play the same good music I grew up on. They sing and play and let me hammer and pound along behind ‘em. I’ve never really minded playin’ second fiddle. You can’t be good at everything. But there was a time when I shined!
But flat panels of mesh were hard to produce in 316, and the tools wore rapidly, causing high downtime for tool sharpening. 445M2 solved both problems and had even better corrosion resistance to cope with the arduous conditions near the ocean.

“In the two days before the cup I studied the form and speed maps. I even memorised all the colours and silks of rival jockeys.
Born in Manhattan, raised in New Jersey, matured in Paris, Asheville, and Brooklyn, Megg Farrell’s music encapsulates all of her travels and experiences into one beautifully eclectic blend of honest simplicity and musical sophistication. When she was 16, she began singing blues music her father taught her and her own original tunes the East Village. At 18, she left New York for North Carolina and worked along the river learning folk traditions of the South. A few years later she moved to Paris to study jazz. Her music retained the stomp of the Southern influence and the blues of her childhood influences but added a new level of vocal and harmonic complexity. She now lives in Brooklyn where she has been professionally singing in the jazz world for four years. Her newest concoction Megg Farrell & Friends has brought her full circle back into her original music. She performs with musicians from the jazz word performing country numbers, blues, and her original folk. In 2016 she released her first full length album Fear Nothing which sprung this group into action. Fear Nothing is a mix of songs she has written throughout these years of growth, travel, romance, sorrow, and unabashed joie… (read more)
A large majority of the world’s surfers never compete, and a good number take no interest in the pro tour, the surf media, any of it. They just surf. At times, a noncompetitor emerges as the consensus “world’s best surfer,” some underground genius whose reputation flows entirely from mind-blowing performances in video clips. Slater could conceivably be just as celebrated, though not as rich, if he had never put on a contest jersey. Still, most of us follow the tour, tuning in at least for the high points—the great days when it all comes together in Fiji or Tahiti or at the Pipe Masters.

Commenter: JoyWhat we need is BANK reform. The bailout our government gave the banks? They were supposed to help people with that money by giving out loans. An article posted in the NY TIMES nearly immediately after the bailout complained – saying the bailout money instead of going for loans – was BEING KEPT BY THE BANKS. Our government handed these banks BILLIONS with no strings attached. And did they help the US? NO. They helped themselves and then once again tightened up their purse strings. I have ONE credit card – ONE. It’s small and I keep it for emergencies. In January they raised my rate to 18.9%. (GOOD THING I DON’T USE THE THING!) When I asked them WHY that is – I’d made no late payments – had no late fees – had always done things properly. When it came down to it a member of my bank said to me – we DO have to pay our employees. Bottom line? It’s all SELFISHNESS and GREED and these institutions are THIEVES. Oor government is letting them get away with it and NOT taking care of YOU and ME. FOR THE PEOPLE!
