They broke the news of the find in July, 1876, and afterwards the government delayed the reward because of the delay in making the discovery known, although one was paid after 1880. Once word of the discovery got out miners flooded the area and the population increased to 1100, of whom 800 were miners.
Bob didn’t, but between Internal Affairs, his insurance agent and his conscience, they reached a compromise. It included, I’m told, one complementary parking ticket and a GET OUT OF JAIL FREE card from the Sioux Fall’s finest.
Lady was next on the list of family to check. She was nowhere to be found until Renee heard her whimpering in what she said was “the worst cry I’ve ever heard in my life from a dog.”
It was like being handed an ax and told to chop down a forest: You know what to do, but the destination seems impossible. So you take it one step at a time.

Kalzip supplied a standing seam roof for the restoration of Category B-listed Kelvin Hall, a Glasgow landmark, to protect the building’s original concrete barrel vault roof
Commenter: MattI’m pleasantly surprised by the number of people who think that high schools are completely ignoring their responsibility to educate young people about the dangers of student loan debt. Instead they just tell everybody to go to college: guidance counselors don’t care what bad advice they give since they can’t be fired. Well maybe they can with the state budget crisis. lol. Oprah Winfrey has done colossal damage by telling people to get an education but not warning them about student loan debt, or education scams like video game schools or culinary schools (or even law school). She’s just a shill for Sallie Mae. I have an accounting degree that I haven’t used. After I got my degree I got a job that I hated, which was doing accounts payable for a company that was running out of money. I eventually quit that job and I haven’t tried to get an accounting-related job since. My degree is just glorified office skills. I went to a cheap school, so I didn’t get into trouble with a student loan, but I learned first hand that a degree may not lead to gainful employment for any number of reasons. You may simply lose interest in the field that you studied–so it’s a really bad idea to go into massive debt to go to school. People say if you don’t go to college, you will end up working in a job where you ask "do you want fries with your order". Perhaps–but your guests are probably eating out because they don’t want to go home to receive another threatening phone call from Sallie Mae.
Other fingers also can emerge from the table for gauging off notches or adjacent, previously formed flanges. With the right backgauge setting, folders also can handle tapered parts. “It’s a simple process,” Kennedy said. “The gauge fingers have micrometer barrels on them. You simply adjust the two outside fingers, so they bump against the material at a tapered angle.”
“Yes, Madam Cowperson. For the first time in the history of the state, the human population will surpass the number of livestock.”

"A friend told me it was Saturn returns and that may be true. I was about to turn thirty and I knew that if I didn’t change direction I was going to end up exactly where I was headed." At the end of Leif Vollebekk’s twenties, his own songs didn’t sound right. He had spent an entire year on the road, playing almost 100 shows, but every night his favourite moment came only right at the end, covering a song by Ray Charles or Townes Van Zandt. Every time he got home from tour he took a hot shower and lay still under a window, listening to Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, feeling saved, wondering why his own music didn’t give him that. Why the songs he had written himself always felt like so much work. He booked himself a secret show. One night only at a Montreal dive bar — not to play his own songs but other people’s. Leif found a rhythm section and they rehearsed once. Then midnight unspooled. Leif called it the most fun he had ever had playing music: Ray Charles and Tom Waits over a locked groove; Bob Dylan and Kendrick Lamar over a slow pulse. The light was dark blue and purple. Listen to it in a rental car in cold weather, with the windows all rolled up. Listen to it laying by an … (read more)
The dockyard did not survive the Great Depression and was abandoned in 1933, having produced 47 vessels from small wooden punts to ferries, pilot boats, 6000-ton steamers and a 15,000-ton floating dock.
Fast forward to today. Teenagers in farm communities now have to go to the gym all summer to get in shape. Because one farmer with a round baler, a self-propelled inline bale wrapper, and a tractor with a bale spear can do the work of full teenage hayin’ crew in half the time. One of the most labor-intensive chores on the ranch is building fence.
Of course, there is a reason that the company is willing to make these kinds investments in fixturing and workholding. In regard to the aluminum aerospace part in Figure 4, Mr. Holmes says that just a few years ago, he would have had to build elaborate fixtures with jack screws and take 20 minutes to load the piece. “And now we’ve virtually eliminated that,” he says. “We’re able to hang it out there, rough five sides of the part, and produce a flat finished surface to mount the next operation on.”
