City Alley is composed of Joe DiGiglio, Matt Cusack, Chris Insignares and Jake Atherton. Derived from childhood friends, Joe and Matt, the band is rooted in their love of music and instrumentation. Together, they instilled the foundation for the band’s sounds today. Joe is self-taught immersing himself in his vocal abilities and transforming songs into his unique style. Matt studied music throughout his life and played in other bands before reuniting with Joe and former band-mate, Chris. The band has recently added band-mate Jake, who brings with him a soulful sound transcending from his stellar guitar skills. From their classic rock influences and their fusing of new musical styles, City Alley draws from personal experiences and reality to drive passion through their emotional lyrics and uniquely mixed harmonies.

When I met Jeff Fournier, Fournier’s shop chief, he walked me past an Aston Martin DBR1/2 body buck—a 1950s Le Mans car in plywood—and toward several large English wheels, frames as tall as a grown man, under bright lights. In 90 minutes, as photographer Andrew Trahan and I watched, Fournier turned a sheet of annealed 3003 aluminum into half of a gas tank for a Norton motorcycle. The process involved little more than a nylon mallet, a plywood buck, a leather-and-wood "slapper" shrinking tool, and an English wheel.

Born and raised New Yorker Jeffrey Lewis leads a double-life, as both a comic book artist and an indie-rock musician. Beginning with homemade cassettes in the late 90s, and moving on to touring the world and releasing "proper" albums since 2001, Jeffrey’s now 15-year career has included sharing bills and tours with the likes of The Vaselines, The Fall, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Roky Erickson, The Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston, Devo, Pulp and many other luminaries. In between his contemplative folk narratives and bashed-out indie-punk songs Jeffrey is known for often including a couple of his illustrated songs in each concert (what he calls "low budget videos") sometimes covering historical topics (like "The History of Communism"), biographies (like "The Life of Barack Obama") or strange flights of fancy (like "The Creeping Brain"). Brandon Ross is an American avant-jazz guitarist, composer, band leader, vocalist, and songwriter, son of trombonist Candy Ross. Born and raised in New Brunswick, NJ, Ross started playing trombone and other horns at the age of four. He also sang as a boy soprano in Christ Episcopal Church Choir of New Brunswick. When he was 11, Brandon Ross purchased his first guitar and switched to strings ever since. Some of his current projects include Harriet Tubman power-trio with bassist Melvin Gibbs and drummer J.T. Lewis, in which Ross uses electronics and pan-tonality to create a multidimensional, interactive, sonic language in a "classic" R&B/rock configuration. Harriet Tubman released four albums, including a live CD on John Zorn’s Avant label in Japan. Brandon Ross also leads For Living Lovers, an all-acoustic duo with bass guitarist Stomu Takeishi, which released their debut Revealing Essence album on Sunnyside Communications in 2014.
